Aberdeen Central Hit By Flu

Cancels Friday Basketball Games

The flu is spreading fast in the north east part of South Dakota.
As a precaution Aberdeen Central has canceled the girls and boys basketball games scheduled for Friday January 16th. They were scheduled to play Sioux Falls Roosevelt.

The South Dakota Department of Health has classified the flu as “widespread” which is the highest level of activity measured for the virus.

The outbreak has forced many of the state’s nursing homes to go into lock-down to limit exposure for the residents.

So far influenza is blamed for 12 deaths; the latest was a 2 year old girl in Sioux Falls.
