USD Avenges Earlier Loss With 93-70 Win

South Dakota got a season-high 21 points from freshman Kate Liveringhouse and 19 points from senior Raeshel Contreras during a 93-70 win against Oral Roberts Saturday inside the DakotaDome.

The Coyotes (17-5, 7-2 Summit) improved to 10-0 at home and remain atop the Summit League standings. Oral Roberts (10-12, 4-5) has lost its last two following a season-long three-game win streak.

Liveringhouse led a Coyote bench that poured in 46 points on 60 percent shooting (20 of 33). Liveringhouse was 9 of 11 from the field and 3 of 4 from the free-throw line. She also had three rebounds, two steals and an assist.

Vicky McIntyre, a 6-foot-7-inch senior, led Oral Roberts with 32 points, 17 rebounds and five blocked shots. McIntyre entered the week as the nation’s leader in both rebounds and blocked shots. McIntyre made 16 of 23 shots for 69 percent. The Golden Eagles shot 54 percent (31 of 57) as a team.

The Coyotes countered by making 9 of 15 three-pointers. Contreras hit four triples to go with three assists and three steals.

South Dakota outscored Oral Roberts 23-6 during the final eight minutes of the first half to take a 41-23 lead into halftime. Contreras and Liveringhouse combined for 19 first-half points. McIntyre had 12 points in the first half for the Golden Eagles.

Oral Roberts pulled within 11 points, 56-45, on a jumper by McIntyre with 12:38 remaining. Coyote forward Lisa Loeffler hit a 3, Jaylah Jackson scored on a fastbreak, Liveringhouse made two free throws and Kelly Stewart hit a mid-range jumper that quickly pushed the lead back to 20 points. South Dakota led by as many as 29 points down the stretch.

Despite McIntyre’s 17 rebounds, the Coyotes won the battle of the boards 36-31 and finished with 21 second-chance points. South Dakota scored 27 points off 17 Oral Roberts’ turnovers and committed a season-low eight turnovers on its end.
Stewart made two triples and had 11 points. Bridget Arens had 10 points. Loeffler and Nicole Seekamp added nine points each.

South Dakota finishes its three-game homestand Friday against Fort Wayne.
