Coyotes senior having great season

She’s the catcher and leader on the infield.
And with one of the biggest bats in South Dakota history, senior Allie Daly is…..
“She is like a teddy bear!” USD Junior Yvon Minogue says.
“I’ve heard that a few times, it’s the truth! I mean, on the field I’m a very competitive person, but off the field it’s just fun and games at that point.” Daly says.
When Allie flips that switch she’s a bear of a different kind. She leads the Coyotes with 57 RBI and is second all time in program history with 41 homeruns.
“She’s done a great job minimizing weaknesses in her swing and she works hard to work through that. And right now, yeah, I think she’s seeing the ball well.” USD Softball Coach Amy Klyse says.
“It’s just being confident and seeing the ball and just finding the pitch that I like and then just getting on base.” Allie says.
Being a leader on this team is more personal for Daly since she grew up watching them just an hour away in Sioux Falls.
“Playing at Sherman Park when I was a kid and now playing here, these four years have just flown by.” Daly says.
“People probably think she’s like real mean and tough because she can hit bombs and everything. But she’s just an awesome person. And she’s always there to pick everyone up and she’s really a team leader.” Minogue says.
And with a chance to help USD make their first division one NCAA Tournament this weekend…..
“It’s been confidence that’s been building since I was a freshman here. We have a really good chance of going up there, showing them what we got and hopefully taking back a trophy!” Allie says.
…The rest of the Summit League won’t be seeing the nicer side of Allie Daly.
