SD Photographers Capture Aurora Borealis
South Dakota photographer Lisa Stelter captured some amazing pictures of the Aurora Borealis early Tuesday morning.
Stelter took these pictures north of Hartford and by Wall Lake between 12:15 a.m. and 1 a.m.
Aurora is a luminous glow of the upper atmosphere which is caused by energetic particles that enter the atmosphere from above.
The composition and density of the atmosphere and the altitude of the aurora determine the possible light emissions.
Sioux Falls photographer Christian Begeman also captures some stunning images and a time lapse video near DeSmet and along Highway 14 close to Lake Preston.
