Rain Totals from Thursday Night’s Flooding

Rainfall Rates of 14 inches per hour Were Recorded!

It was a crazy day in parts of the southeast on Thursday night. Strong storms moved into the area bringing heavy rain late Thursday afternoon and into the evening. Rain came down so quickly that one reporting station received 0.91” in just 10 minutes! Another saw 0.71” in just FIVE minutes! That would equate to a rainfall rate of 14.20” per HOUR!

Ok, here is what you really want. Below is the list of totals we have received from the National Weather Service. Very impressive totals as several spots hit over seven inches, other locations have reported more than eight inches, but those totals have not been confirmed by the NWS.
