Bark In The Park Successful Despite Thursday’s Flooding
It was a day just for dogs and their owners this morning in Dunham Park. Bark in the Park was back with treats and toys for area canines.
In its 13th year, organizers brought more area pet clinics to the park. It was a chance for owners to learn more about pet rescue and fostering, as well as a chance for dogs to play with other dogs.
The event almost didn’t happen after Thursday night’s flood left Spencer Dog Park looking more like a pond. But event organizers say that despite the sudden location change, the turnout was still great.
“We were really glad with the turnout considering the last minute location change, so that was new and I think it went pretty well here. Then also we had an additional contest that we normally do, we do a contest following and we added a sixth,” said Malorie Adamson.
A little dog named Penny won the costume contest dressed as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. Adamson says that Saturday’s event was also an important reminder to spay and neuter your pets.
