NSIC Names Northern State’s Aldridge Coach Of The Year; Smith Player Of the Year

Senior Drew Smith and Head Coach Brent Aldridge highlight the NSIC All-Conference release for the Wolves being named the NSIC Player of the Year and NSIC Coach of the Year. Smith and Aldridge are joined by Cari McGarvie, Kelsey Chambers, and Mandy Kurosky.

Seniors Drew Smith, Cari McGarvie and Kelsey Chambers led the way with First Team All-NSIC honors, while Mandy Kurosky was named to the Second Team All-NSIC.

Cari McGarvie is second on the team this season with 300 kills and averaging 3.33 kills per set. She is also hitting a team and league second best .414 in 90 sets played. McGarvie has added 15 service aces, 72 digs, and a team leading 61 blocks for the Wolves. The senior ranks fifth in the nation in hitting percentage and is on pace to break both the single season and career attack percentage records. Cari opened the season with an NSIC Offensive Player of the Week nod.

Kelsey Chambers is leading the team this season with 371 total kills, averaging 4.12 kills per set. Chambers is third on the team hitting .354 and has added 18 assists and 26 blocks. The senior has a team second best 263 digs, averaging 2.92 per set. Kelsey has tallied 11 double-doubles this season and ranks in the top-20 in the nation in kills per set. Chambers has been named the NSIC Offensive Player of the week on two occasions this season and was the first Wolf to be named an AVCA National Player of the Week.

Mandy Kurosky has tallied 265 kills this season, while hitting a career best .309 as only a sophomore. Kurosky has added 27 service aces, 92 digs, and 43 blocks this season. Mandy has tallied four matches hitting above .500 this season and is averaging 2.94 kills per set. Mandy ranks ninth in the league averaging 0.30 aces per set.
