UPDATED Sioux Empire Groundhog Day Blizzard 2016 Snow Reports

Snow moved in and really started to rack up across the area on Tuesday as Winter Storm Kayla brought us a blizzard on Ground Hogs Day! Heavy snow and high winds will continued to increase through the evening and overnight Tuesday into Wednesday leading to some very tough road conditions and some very impressive snow totals.

NO TRAVEL was advised in Sioux Falls as well as most southeastern South Dakota for much of Tuesday and I-29 was CLOSED from Sioux Falls to Sioux City, IA before reopening up early on Wednesday. I-90 CLOSED from the SD/MN border to Albert Lea at 2:00pm on Tuesday before reopening around 9:00am on Wednesday. Plenty of highways in southwest Minnesota were also closed through the morning hours due to blowing and drifting snow.

Here is a list of some very impressive snow reports that we received from across the area. What is more impressive is that we had some wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph which lead to some blowing and drifting snow. Take a look!
