Sioux Falls Chef To Be Featured On Food Network Next Week
Sanaa Abourezk will make a taped appearance on "Beat Bobby Flay"
You’ve seen her in our KDLT kitchen before, but in one week Sanaa Abourezk is taking her cooking to the national stage.
She recently took on Bobby Flay on Food Network’s “Beat Bobby Flay.” The episode was taped and airs in a week.
To celebrate, a viewing party will be held next Thursday when the episode airs.
On Thursday, Sanaa Abourezk stopped by KDLT News Today to talk more about the experience of being part of the show. She was joined by Chef Amy Warren who helped put together a viewing party for Abourezk.
Abourezk said the whole experience started with a phone call.
“They asked me if I wanted to be on Food Network and I said of course,” she said. Although Abourezk says she did do some research to make sure the call was legitimate.
Abourezk went through several interviews, had to tell her life story and be part of chats with producers via Skype.
The best thing she says about being on the show was that she did not freeze or get nervous. She loved seeing other chefs, which gave her some confidence.
The viewing party will be held Thursday, March 3 at Elements on 8th in Sioux Falls, which is located in the Hilton Garden Inn. It begins at 8:00 p.m. with the showing starting at 9:00 p.m.
Snacks will be provided and a cash bar is available, too.
“This is a big deal in the world of food, a really big deal” Warren said.
Warren is a retired chef but now works with Abourezk via her current role at Sysco.
“We’re all in the same boat and being an independent restaurant owner is an extremely difficult job,” Warren added. “When one of us is successful, we are all successful.”
