Main Avenue Construction Continues After Diet Project
Following the success of the Main Avenue Road Diet Project in 2014, more of Main Avenue will see changes coming in the following months.
Lanes on Main Avenue were reduced from three to two in 2014; the re-purposed lane allows for diagonal parking and more walking space. The project received a lot of positive feedback from both pedestrians and business owners.
Because of the success, an area from West 8th Street to West 11th Street will soon be getting a new look, according to Dena Knutson, a civil engineer who’s working on the new project.
“Putting down new concrete. The improvements will involve new trees, a new brick paver area… so the walking path in front of buildings will remain open,” Knutson explained.
There are three phases and workers are currently in phase one. The streetscape is expected to be completed by the end of July. You can find out more about the construction on Main Avenue and other expected construction by clicking here.
