15th Annual Family Health And Safety Festival Is Saturday
Tomorrow at the First Presbyterian Church in Sioux Falls, you and the kids can head to the 15th annual Family Health and Safety Festival. There will be inflatables, live music, a giant balloon colon—yes, a giant colon!—and of course dozens of local health providers who can give your family resources about staying safe and healthy.
Fran Rice, the executive director of Health Connect of South Dakota, the organization hosting the festival, says the Family Health and Safety Festival is a chance for families to come together and learn about health concerns that they should be aware of as well as the agencies in the community that can help provide resources. Delta Dental will be one of the companies at the festival and will be doing fluoride cleanings for youth and adults. Code Bootcamp will also be there for parents to sign up their kids to learn about coding and STEM activities. There will also be information about gun safety, the police and fire departments will be there. Martial arts studios will also be on site and other exercise platforms to highlight importance of exercise. Rice says it brings families into a non-threatening environment to have a conversation about how to keep our loved ones safe and healthy.
Will Bushee, the president of Health Connect of South Dakota, says it won’t just be all about information; there will be a magician, martial arts performances, balloon animals, inflatables, live music, jugglers and more.
The Family Health and Safety Festival is a free event that will be at the First Presbyterian Church from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. A free lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Free haircuts for kids will also be provided.
