Augustana Unviersity President To Retire

Augustana University President Rob Oliver has announced his retirement after serving 11 years as president.

Oliver announced Monday that he will retire on July 31, 2017. He was named the university’s 23rd president in 2006. Before becoming president, he served on Augustana’s Board of Trustees and as faculty chair in the Business Administration department.

During his time as president, Oliver helped complete major projects on Augustana University’s campus including a $7 million renovation of the Mikkelsen Library, the $12.1 million, 6,500-seat Kirkeby-Over Stadium, and the $35 million, 125,000-square-foot Froiland Science Complex.

Board of trustees chair Becky Blue says Oliver has been one of the school’s “greatest thinkers” and “best dreamers.”

Plans for a presidential search have yet to be announced.
