DWU’s Turner Is NAIA Player Of The Week
Huge week for DWU Junior QB, named NAIA Player of the Week
After a career performance on Saturday, Dillon Turner (Salem, Ark.) has been named Great Plains Athletic Conference and NAIA Player of the Week for his efforts in a 42-37 victory over Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Turner accounted for 204 rushing yards on 22 attempts and a touchdown. Through the air, the junior quarterback was just as impressive, completing 31-of-39 passes for 402 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Turner’s 402 passing yards came just shy of Jon Bane’s record of 457 passing yards, which was set in 2012.
Turner currently sits in first place in the NAIA with an average of 388 total offensive yards per game. He is closing in on 2,000 career rushing yards, while already passing for 5,767.
This was Turner’s third player of the week award at the conference level this season, and first at the national level.
Turner and the No. 16 Dakota Wesleyan University football team welcome the No. 24 Concordia Bulldogs for a GPAC showdown at 1 p.m. Saturday at Joe Quintal Field in Mitchell, S.D.
