New Developments In Sioux Falls Teen Rape Case

Kidnapping, second degree rape charges dropped

There are new developments tonight in the case involving a man charged with raping a Sioux Falls teenager. Today in court, prosecutors dropped two of the three initial charges against Jason Becker including second degree rape and kidnapping.

Becker is now only facing 4th degree rape.

The Minnehaha County State’s Attorney’s office says based on additional interviews done by law enforcement today evidence only supports that charge.

Fourth degree rape is a felony. If convicted Becker could spend up to 15 years in jail plus a $30,000 fine.

A judge set Becker’s bond at $5,000

He can’t have contact with either the victim or anyone under the age of 18.

In the initial report, police say Becker pulled his vehicle up to the victim as she was walking from Lincoln High School on Wednesday.

The victim told police Becker abducted her, took her back to his apartment and sexually assaulted her.
