Man Arrested After Getting Hit With Frying Pan, Hammer

Slashed tires leads to altercation

A Sioux Falls man accuses his neighbor of slashing his tires, then he ends up getting arrested.

Police responded to a call Saturday in the 600 block of South Fourth Avenue.

Shawn Bergstedt, 46, noticed his car tires were slashed. Police say he assumed his neighbor did it.

He went to his neighbor’s house where the neighbor and a friend were inside. Bergstedt kicked the door open and started fighting with the friend.

That person hit bergstedt in the side with a frying pan and hit his legs with a hammer. He is in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

He is being charged with burglary and simple assault.
