The Augustana soccer team defeated Minnesota Duluth, 1-0, at Morstad Field on Wednesday to advance in the NSIC tournament. The Vikings improved to 12-4-3 (10-2-3 NSIC) on the season and will play the winner of the Minot State vs. Upper Iowa match which was being played Friday night.
Hannah Keirstead scored the lone goal in the match in the 28th minute. Keirstead connected a header on an Ellie Knowles cross into the box. In Augustana’s last two matches Keirstead has scored both goals for the Vikings and they are Keirstead’s first two career goals.

The Vikings recorded their 12th victory of the season good for the fourth most in school history. Wednesday was the Vikings fourth consecutive NSIC tournament victory after losing the first five NSIC tournament matches in program history.
Minnesota Duluth outshot Augustana 13-9 and had more shots on goal with six compared to two by the Vikings. It was the first time this season that Augustana was outshot and won.
Augustana moved to 8-0-1 on the season when they have scored first and 6-0 when leading at halftime.
The Vikings are next slated to play Friday, Nov. 4 at approximately 3 p.m. in the NSIC Semifinals.
