Coo Look To Enjoy Playoffs At Home
After Win Over Azusa Pacific Saturday, USF Hosts Harding Next Week
If there is one team loving home field advantage in the playoffs right now, it’s the University of Sioux Falls Cougars.
The Coo took advantage of a chilly Saturday to upend Azusa Pacific, 34-21, who had to travel in from California.
Head Coach Jed Stugart said the opportunity to play at Bob Young Field to start their road to the national championship makes the grind of the regular season worth it.
“That’s what you play for in the regular season. This tournament is too tough to go on the road so we get first two here at home and then you just never know after that. We’ve got to win 428 next week and then see what happens after that,” said Stugart.
Quarterback Luke Papilion said their playoff experience last year, which took them on the road, helps them appreciate their first two rounds at home.
“We love playing here at the Bob, we’ve got great fans here but it’s also huge not having to travel, hop on a plane, fly out. That takes tolls on people sometimes. We had to do that last year so it’s awesome having that home field advantage here,” said Papilion.
The Sioux Falls Cougars will host Harding University (12-0) in the second round of the NCAA Division II Football Playoffs on Saturday.
