Season Of Nail-Biters Ends For Coyotes
USD Fell To NDSU Bison, 28-21, Saturday To End Season 4-7
The Coyotes made a valiant comeback effort against the FCS Playoffs top seed North Dakota State Bison Saturday.
They came a touchdown short, losing 28-21.
The end of the 2016 campaign for the Coyotes ended exactly like almost every game before it.
Of the Coyotes 11 games this season, 9 of those games were decided by a touchdown or less.
USD finished with a record of 4-5 in those games.
Quarterback Chris Streveler said he sees this string of tight loses sticking in the minds of their returning players.
“I think we are going to have a lot of guys motivated to go into the offseason and remembering how all these losses felt. It’s tough losing games like this Hopefully, that will just fuel us into the offseason,” said Streveler.
Head Coach Bob Nielson, who completes his first year as the Coyotes front man, said winning the close games is what gets teams to where they want to go.
“We’re trying to catch up with some programs right now that are really established and that’s kind of the first step in doing that, you’ve got to win close games. We won some, we lost some this year and next year we’ve got to be a team that wins more than we lose,” said Nielson.
