Road Trip Will Test Coyotes’ Strong Start

USD Off To Division One Best 8-4 Beginning

VERMILLION, S.D. —

The Coyote men’s basketball team is in the Pacific Northwest to face the Portland Pilots at the Moda Center which is the home of the NBA’s Portland Trailblazers.  That building used to be known as the Rose Garden, and for the most part, USD’s start has come up roses.

The Coyotes are off to an 8-4 start and begin a three game western road swing tonight in the Rose City.  They’ll be tested for sure with games against the Pilots, at Montana State on Sunday and then at 8th ranked and unbeaten Gonzaga on Wednesday.

Still, USD is off to the best start since moving to Division One in 2008, and with a lineup that features three division one transfers who are flourishing, there’s reason to believe that the Coyotes can contend for a Summit League title.
