Crews Searching Missouri River For Missing Swimmer
Elk Point, S.D. — Authorities are searching the Missouri River near Burbank Beach after a report of a 27-year-old man that went missing in the water near the South Dakota-Nebraska border.
The report was made around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities said a group of six people was swimming on a sand bar when one of them stepped off and went under the water. The missing man is from the area.
South Dakota and Nebraska Game Fish and Parks are searching the area with boats. A plane from the South Dakota Highway Patrol was also brought in to search, along with Sioux City Police and emergency management crews.
Authorities said the search will resume Thursday morning.
