Wichita Snaps Canaries Win Streak In Slugfest

Canaries Blow Two Three Run Leads In 13-10 Loss

WICHITA, KS  —  A week after playing a high scoring series at the Birdcage, the Sioux Falls Canaries and Wichita Wingnuts picked up where they left off in Wichita in the opener of a three game set on Friday night.

And as they did in two slugfests last week, the Canaries came up short.

Wichita snapped Sioux Falls five game win streak, scoring 6 runs in the 8th in to rally for a wild 13-10 win.

The Birds, whose streak began with last Sunday’s 2-1 win over the Wingnuts and included a four game sweep at St. Paul, held a pair of three run leads but couldn’t hold on.  Jabari Henry hit a pair of solo homeruns giving him 14 for the season.  Dan Motl and Blake Schmitt each went 2-4 with three RBI.
