Thunder Set Strong Foundation From Inaugural Year
Season Finale At Duluth Tonight
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The inaugural season for the Sioux Falls Thunder football club comes to a close tonight in Duluth.
And perhaps their greatest victory this year was growing a passionate fan base.
On the field the Thunder have had a respectable showing as an expansion franchise in the semi-pro National Premier Soccer League, entering tonight’s finale with a 3-6-4 record.
More impressive has been their fan following which has jammed the bleachers during home games at McEnenany Field or the USF Complex. It showed that the area does have passionate soccer fans eager to support a team for the first time since 2007 when the Sioux Falls Spitfire folded.
The focus going into next year will be on increased marketing and getting more kids to the games.
