Man Arrested For Vandalizing Sculpture In DTSF
A Sioux Falls man has been arrested on felony charges for vandalizing a sculpture downtown.
Twenty-four-year-old Casey Schmidt is charged with intentional damage to property. Police say an off-duty officer witnessed Schmidt climb the statue at the corner of 11th Street and Phillips Avenue early Saturday at around 2 a.m. A fish on the side of the SculptureWalk statue ‘Salmon Runner’ fell off as a result.
Police say aren’t sure how much damage was done, but the statue is worth around $16,000.
The sculpture was made by an artist in Canada.
