City Of Brandon Issues Lawn Watering Ban
BRANDON, S.D. – Effective immediately residents in Brandon are now restricted from watering their lawns as high demand for water continues in the city.
The city has had water restrictions in place for a couple months, but last night they made the decision to place a complete ban on watering grass.
Residents who don’t follow the rules the first time get a warning and if there’s a second offense the city will shut off their water. The city says it wasn’t easy making this decision.
“It was a difficult decision for the council there was some very good discussion last night at the council meeting. Some citizens came forward to discuss some issues or some ideas. Nobody was out right opposed to the ban. I think everybody understands we need enough water for public safety issues,” says City Administrator Bryan Read.
The ban does not apply to watering gardens, trees or shrubs.
Coming up on KDLT News at 10, we hear from a resident who applied for an exception to the rules today.
