Sioux Falls Woman Arrested For Second DWI With Six Kids In Car
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – A Sioux Falls woman faces several felony charges after driving drunk with her six kids in the car.
Police say 34-year-old Jessica Costello pulled out in front of another car in an intersection at 6th and Duluth last night causing an accident. At the time of her arrest, Costello was three times the legal driving limit.
None of her six children, ages ranging from one to 14, were wearing seat belts. Two of them, a 4-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl were sent to the hospital with non-serious injuries.
Due to it being a residential street the cars were only going 20 miles per hour, officers say it’s fortunate the accident wasn’t worse.
“The speeds of both vehicles were so low, that’s why we didn’t have more injuries. But if this had happened somewhere else, you know, even if the speeds were only ten miles an hour more instead of this guy going 20. If he was going 30, there could’ve been quite a few more injuries that could’ve happened,” said Officer Sam Clemens.
Costello faces her second DWI, she also faces six abuse and cruelty charges which are felonies.
