Canaries Rally Stunted In Extra Innings
After Erasing Three-Run Deficit, Birds Fall In Tenth Inning
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Sioux Falls Canaries rally but fall short in extra inning versus the Lincoln Saltdogs, 6-3, Saturday night at the Birdcage.
Lincoln led the Canaries, 3-0, going into the bottom of the eighth inning.
The rally started in the bottom of the eighth when Dan Motl drove in a run on a deep shot to right center field, making it 3-1 Lincoln.
Then, a Ty Morrison hit up the middle brought in another run, bringing the Saltdog lead down to 3-2.
The hit continues Morrison’s league-leading hit streak as it is now up to 18 games.
Going into the bottom of the ninth, Burt Reynolds blasted a solo home run to left field to tie the game at three, apiece.
In the top of the tenth, however, the Saltdogs scored three runs and took the lead until the end.
The Sioux Falls Canaries wrap up their five-game home stand this Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader at the Birdcage against the Sioux City Explorers.
