Sioux Falls Little League Stay Modest During Success
Won District Title In First Season Of Existence
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — In one week, the Sioux Falls Little League team will be on a national stage.
They’ll play for a chance at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania when they go to Indianapolis.
To get to Williamsport, they have to win the Midwest Regional Tournament.
They take on Kansas next Sunday at noon on ESPN 3.
This is the team’s first year in existence and their already getting spotlight around the country.
Leading up to this opportunity, they had a humble expectation for their team.
“Honestly, during the little league actual season, I didn’t think much into it but I imagined that we’d be good and we’d be moving on quite a bit throughout the whole process,” said first baseman and pitcher, Marcus Phillips.
“I just want these kids to really stay grounded but they know what’s in front of them and they know if they play each play to their best potential, that we’re going to be right there and we’re going to have that opportunity to play. They’re looking forward to it probably more than I am to get out there and compete,” said Manager Jeff Riley.
