Aberdeen Man Charged With Armed Robbery

PD recovered a handgun and stolen cash

ABERDEEN, S.D. – A 38-year-old Aberdeen man was arrested and charged with armed robbery Sunday afternoon.

According to the Aberdeen Police Department’s Facebook page, around noon police were called to the 500 block of S Dakota Street for an armed robbery. It was reported that the suspect fled eastbound on foot with a handgun and a large amount of cash.

Less than 20 minutes later, police located the suspect hiding in a garage near the 1100 block of 3rd Avenue SE, taking him into custody. They also recovered the handgun and stolen cash.

Jesus Antonio Aguilera Rivera, age 38 of Aberdeen, was arrested and charged with armed robbery.

Aberdeen Police received say they received assistance from a male on a motorcycle that was “crucial in allowing us to apprehend the suspect so quickly.” The department is asking if you know this male, please put him in contact with Aberdeen PD to receive the recognition and appreciation he deserves.
