Sioux Falls Police Announce Participating Neighborhoods For National Night Out 2017

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KDLT) -Sioux Falls police announced Monday which neighborhoods will be participating in the National Association of Town Watch’s National Night Out.

Sioux Falls has been a part of the national event for more than 30 years. Today, it involves more than 16,250 communities and 38.1 million people around the world. Sioux Falls Neighborhood Watch Groups and the Sioux Falls Police Department will host their annual Sioux Falls National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.

Police officers will attend several Neighborhood Watch Groups. Personnel from other City of Sioux Falls departments will attend as well. The goal is to have residents come out of their homes, meet and get to know their neighbors to make safer neighborhoods.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs. It’s goal is to also strengthen neighborhood spirit, police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and know what to look for.

For more information on the groups hosting National Night Out parties, contact Officer Kyle Johnson at (605) 978-6866.
