Sioux Falls Group Celebrates International Day Of Peace

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – During a time of political unrest and global violence, a local group decided to take this morning to celebrate peace.

About a dozen people met at Sertoma Park to say a prayer, sing songs and give each other a hug. Pax Christi South Dakota, a Catholic organization that promotes peace, sponsored the service. This is the second year this group has recognized International Peace Day in Sioux Falls.

Organizer Josh Grode Wolters says last year, the service helped him feel connected to the people around him,”that we are a community, and if we remember that we are connected to each other, it’s hard to hate one another when we realize that we have more things in common than differences.”

Several people at the service said that they hope world leaders at the United Nations this week will do more to create a more peaceful world.
