Employee: I Got A Text That I No Longer Had A Job; Moe’s Southwest Grill Unexpectedly Closes

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Moe’s Southwest Grill in Sioux Falls has reportedly, unexpectedly closed.

The city’s sole location on South Western Avenue shut down sometime yesterday. A sign on the front door reads “Moe’s Southwest Grill Permanently Closed.” The website also indicated the location has shut down.

The closure of the restaurant came as a surprise to many customers, as well as the handful of employees who worked there. Destyni Ceballos tells KDLT News she received a text message letting her know she no longer had a job.

“I thought it was a joke at first, you know? Because it was in a text. Like, who texts to say, ‘Hey, you don’t have a job anymore.’ You know? It was very upsetting. I thought I at least deserved a phone call or at least known before that we might be closing that was I could look for another job, you know?” said Ceballos.

Ceballos says she was told the business closed due to lack of sales.

Employees expect to receive their final paychecks this Friday.
