Average South Dakota Teacher Salary Rises 8.8% In 2017
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – State officials say South Dakota’s average teacher salary increased by nearly 9 percent this year.
The Department of Education says the average salary rose to about $45,000 for the 2017 fiscal year, putting the state on track to reach its goal of about $48,000.
Several districts, including Wall, Gayville-Volin and Mobridge-Pollock, saw increases of more than 20 percent with Leola nearing a 30 percent increase.
The pay raise follows the “Blue Ribbon Education Funding Package” approved by state lawmakers last year.
