Police: Father Arrested After Two-Month-Old Left Outside Overnight

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Sioux Falls police have arrested the father of a two and a half month old baby that was left overnight outside of a church for more than 18 hours.

Police say the parents of the baby had an argument around 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon. Faith Family Church’s surveillance video showed that the father followed their one-year-old after she ran off and that the mother went the other direction, leaving the area.

At around 2:50 p.m. the father is seen returning to the area with the one-year-old before they both left. The parents say they both thought the other had the two and a half month old and neither went back to check.

An arrest affidavit states that temperatures reached 54 degrees and was raining overnight. The woman who found the baby at 8:48 a.m. Tuesday morning says the baby was soaking wet.

The father, 38-year-old Ronald Harrison Jr., was arrested on a felony abuse or cruelty of a minor charge and a contributing to abuse or neglect of a child charge with a $10,000 cash only bond.

The mother has not been charged.

The two and a half month old is still in protective custody awaiting a hearing to determine what will happen next.
