New Partnership Promotes Hunting Ahead Of Pheasant Season
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – A new partnership between sporstmen, retailers and business leaders is promoting hunting throughout South Dakota.
“Hunting Works for South Dakota” is working to educate the public and policy makers about the effect of the hunting industry on the economy. The organization is co-chaired by several business leaders and directors of convention and visitors bureaus from across the state, as well as the president of South Dakota’s Chamber of Commerce.
The group says nearly 300,000 hunters visit South Dakota every year and have a big impact, even in areas they are just passing through on their way to the fields
“While they’re not hunting right here in Sioux Falls, it’s still a very important part of our community, of our economic development, and certainly as a part of South Dakota. We all work together to do what is best for the state, to enhance our economic development throughout the state of South Dakota,” said Teri Schmidt, the Executive Director, Sioux Falls Convention And Visitors Bureau.
The Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation puts the economic impact of visiting hunters at more than $970M a year in South Dakota.
