New Details In Sioux Falls Deadly Shooting
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – We’re learning new details tonight about a shooting that cost a Sioux Falls man his life.
In a quiet Sioux falls neighborhood, a domestic dispute turned deadly.
Police responded to a call just before 2 AM on Sunday morning from a woman and found quite the crime scene.
“When the officers arrived they found a 34-year-old man was deceased from a single gunshot wound,” said Sioux Falls Police Officer Sam Clemens.
It appears he was shot in the chest area by the same woman who police say called 911.
Police are withholding any personal information about the victim or the shooter at this time due to Marsy’s law, a victim’s rights law.
“We’re not going to release the victim’s name at this time, and we’re doing what we can to try to keep the victim’s name or anything that would be used to be identified private,” said Clemens.
At this time, police believe that the handgun is legally owned. The shooter and the victim were the only two people home, but police could not confirm if the shooter and victim had any children together.
“It’s hard for me to try to and I’m not trying to dodge the question, and it should would explain a lot if I could gladly give you that information, but unfortunately I can’t,” said Clemens.
The shooter is not under arrest nor in jail, and police say she’s not a current danger to the public.
“She’s not in jail,” said Clemens. “We haven’t had any arrests, or no charges. We know where she’s at and there’s no danger to the public.”
Police recovered the handgun inside the home, just a piece of the puzzle in this ongoing investigation.
