“Christmas at the Western Mall” Light Show Returns for 2017 Season

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – After a one-year hiatus, a Sioux Falls favorite is returning to the Western Mall this holiday season.

The “Christmas at the Western Mall” light show is relaunching on November 23rd, Thanksgiving Day.

“I did feel a little bad, we got a whole lot of messages and things from people about, ‘Oh no, I can’t believe you’re not going to do it!”

Joe Noe, the man behind the music, took last season off.

“It’s a lot of work and you tend to get burnt out after a while. So it was nice to have a year off and spend some time with family, but energized and ready to go again,” he said.

Without skipping a beat, he’s back at it.

This year, joe is getting some extra help from sponsors, which he says takes some of the organizational stress off of him so he can focus on making the show bigger and better than before.

“It’s going to be a little bit different than it has been in the past; a lot of it was completely about the show. And I think this year we are going to do more ancillary things along with the show to make it more of an event for people.”

He’s not the only one excited to see it come back.

“People missed it,” said Paul Krueger of Make-A-Wish SD. “We missed it, our wish kids and families missed it and so we really hope for a great year of people coming out to see the show and also to put some money in the box to support make a wish and help us do our mission.”

All donations from the show go to support Make-A-Wish SD, a cause Noe says he’s honored to help out.

The light display runs through New Year’s Day. More information can be found here: http://www.westernmallchristmas.com/
