Incredible Response to Local Lakota Language Class
Instructor Tim Easter says he planned for maybe a few to show
The launch of a Lakota language class recently in Sioux Falls is part of a broader movement across the nation to try and save the Native languages that remain and help Native Americans reclaim a quickly disappearing part of their heritage and culture. Languages nationwide are disappearing as older generations pass on. Recognizing this, more groups like the one Easter has started here locally, are growing the movement. For more on Easter’s class and registration, head to http://www.siouxlandlib.org/. The Lakota classes are available 2 p.m. on the second Sunday of each month at the Downtown Library, 200 N. Dakota Ave.
