Sioux Falls Area Humane Society
Receive a FREE microchip for your pet!
Thanks to our sponsor Elanco, the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society will be hosting a microchip clinic on Thursday, September 29th from 4-7PM at the shelter. The public is welcome to bring their pets that do not have a microchip already for microchip implantation and registration. The microchip will then be registered with the pet and owner's information so that should they ever get lost, they have a much higher likelihood of making it back to you.
At the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society, over half the animals that are brought to our shelter come in as strays. In 2015 alone, we received over 4,000 strays here at the Sioux Falls Humane Society. If your pet is lost, the best bet for you to be reunited with your pet is to have a registered, up-to-date microchip implanted in your pet. Statistics on lost pets finding their way back to their owner with no microchip are drastically lower than those that have microchips.
Only 250 microchips will be available to the public the day of the clinic. They will be administered on a first come, first serve basis by trained veterinary staff. If you have multiple pets coming in to receive a microchip, there is a limit of 3 microchips per individual looking to microchip their pets. All pets that come to the clinic must be leashed or in a carrier upon arrival to the SFAHS. Find printable copies of the registration and waiver forms on the event web page at SFHumaneSociety.com.
