KDLT News, the NBC affiliate in Sioux Falls, SD, is looking for a meteorologist to join our Emmy-nominated 5-7am weekday morning newscast.

The ideal candidate for this position has experience forecasting a wide variety of weather events. Candidates must also have the ability to connect with viewers and display an energetic personality throughout the many aspects of the newscast and through social media.

We need someone who can work as part of a team and who is committed to becoming a big part of the Sioux Falls community in this high-profile position.

The job includes anchoring weather coverage for KDLT News Today as well as providing content to KDLT.com, all KDLT social media platforms, and producing weather segments for our radio affiliates. Candidate may occasionally fill-in as the meteorologist on other newscasts as needed. EOE.

Job Purpose:
The Morning Meteorologist is responsible for anchoring and producing weather segments for KDLT News Today. This position is also responsible for anchoring and producing weather segments during Today Show cut-ins during the week.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Anchor weather coverage for KDLT News Today: This position’s main responsibility will be to produce and anchor weather coverage for KDLT News Today and Today Show cut-ins. As a member of the KDLT Weather Team, this position may also be required to work additional shifts when severe/winter weather events occur.
- Upload content to KDLT.com& Social Media Sites: The Morning Meteorologist is responsible for posting weather content, graphics, and videos to KDLT.com as well as Facebook & Twitter. This position is required to post content to Facebook & Twitter where they will interact with viewers and followers daily.
- Work to develop contacts and sources for news stories: The Morning Meteorologist should make it a priority to build relationships with city leaders and community organizations. Networking will allow candidate to become familiar with the people who help shape our communities.
- Take part in community events and station appearances: In order to continue to grow the KDLT-TV brand and image, newsroom employees are highly encouraged to take part in station appearances at activities such as parades, fundraisers, food drives, and schools throughout the year.
- Maintain outstanding driving record: KDLT-TV employees are allowed to drive KDLT-TV news cars, provided they have an outstanding driving record. This privilege may be lost if employee fails to comply with driving laws and regulations.

- Degree in Meteorology with emphasis or minor in Broadcasting
- Well-versed in using video cameras and non-linear editing equipment
- Solid understanding of AP-style writing
- Excellent news judgment
- Great work ethic
- Ability to multi-task
- Trained in effective social media strategies

Working Conditions:
The Morning Meteorologist will be required to work a shift from 3:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Schedule may change based upon special events, including elections, and breaking news. The Morning Meteorologist will spend the majority of the day at the KDLT Studio. On occasion, this position may participate in live shots from the field.

Physical Requirements:
The Morning Meteorologist may be responsible for helping carry the camera equipment to and from shoots. This equipment may weigh up to 25 lbs. This position mainly involves sitting at a desk for long periods of time.
