Strengthening Families 10-14 Program @ carroll institute
Feb 8 @ 5:30 pm – Mar 22 @ 8:00 pm

Strengthening Families is a 7 week program for families with students ages 10-14. The program centers on strengthening communication and family bonds. Students also work on how to deal with peer pressure and adults learn to set limits with their children, while still showing love. The program is running February 8, 15, 22 & March 1, 8, 15, & 22. The program starts at 5:30 pm with a meal. The total cost for all 7 weeks is $35. We come and eat together as families (meal included with program cost). The youth and adults separate from 6:00-7:00 and work on separate areas more specific to them and then come back together as families from 7:00-8:00 to learn more about each other and have fun together! If you are interested in this rewarding program contact Barb DeVos at Carroll Institute! She can be reached at (605)336-2556 or bdevos@carrollinstitute.org

Necessary Targets @ Jeschke Fine Arts Center/Meredith Auditorium
Feb 21 @ 7:30 pm

Two American women, a Park Avenue psychiatrist and an ambitious young writer, travel to Bosnia to help women refugees confront their memories of war. Though the two have little in common beyond the methods they use to distance themselves from the subjects, they emerge deeply changed as they confront their own fears in the face of violence, resiliency and war. Based on interviews conducted by Eve Ensler with numerous women who survived the civil war in the former Yugoslavia, NECESSARY TARGETS is a timely reminder of how America struggles to define its relationship to the rest of the world. First produced in 2001, it is a groundbreaking play about women and war- about the violence of dark memories and the enduring resilience of the human spirit.
