Westward Ho played host to the Orion Classic today with numerous players from the PGA and champions tour making appearances in the Pro-AM.
A couple of the headliners were Onida natives Curt and Tom Byrum who are heading into the SDGA hall of fame tonight, and this year's Senior British Open winner Russ Cochran. Each of the Pros played two to three holes with groups and businesses from around the area on a rotational format with money raised going to help the Children's Home Society...
"You know I didn't know much about the charity or anything and came here and was just so surprised at how many big hearts are involved and how many people are getting behind the charity" Cochran said, "And I do a ton of these things and I really just gotta congratulate all the people from Sioux falls because they've really stepped up and done it right and it's an outstanding situation you've got here."
"Well, I think it's great to be able to come back to a charitable outing like this," Curt Byrum said, "They do such a great job here and it's such a great cause, the Children's Home Society is such a good cause and when we saw those kids at the dinner last night you realize what's at stake and if we can help out by coming back here and doing a golf outing we are thrilled to be able to do it."
Also in attendance today were Graham Marsh, Morris Hatalsky, Bruce Fleisher, and David Peoples.Follow KDLT Sports at @KDLTSports and KDLT Weekend Sports Anchor Kolbe Nelson at @KolbeNelson for opinions, links, and updates on Twitter. And don't forget to check out the KDLT Sports Facebook Page .
