BURNSVILLE, Minn. - Augustana was picked sixth by the league coaches in the 2011 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Poll released Thursday by the conference office. The Vikings received 106 points in the poll.

Last season's NCAA National Champion Concordia University, St. Paul was selected as the top team in the poll, receiving all 13 first-place votes and 169 points.

Southwest Minnesota State finished second to top Minnesota Duluth by three points, 146 to 143. The Mustangs received the other first-place vote. Wayne State (142) and Minnesota State (120) rounded out the top five in the poll.

Augustana libero Grace Sanders was named a preseason player to watch. She was an All-NSIC honorable selection last season after playing in all 29 matches and 103 sets. Sanders led the team with 589 digs (5.72 per set) and was second in service aces (26). She tallied a season-high 31 digs against Northern State on Oct. 23 and was named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 25.

Megan Carlson from Concordia was tabbed as the coaches' choice for Preseason Player of the Year.
