McNabb Looking To Bring Vikes To Glory, Teach Ponder

Aside from a few moments of glory, Donovan McNabb went through some pretty tough times last year in Washington, quarelling with his coach and being benched in the later games of the season. So when the chance to go to the Vikings came up, he jumped at it.
"It's not about the money for me it was an opprotunity," McNabb says, "If it was take less to play with a better team, have an opprotunity to win, that's what this was all about."
But some questions do remain now that he's here, namely, how does the Vikes top draft pick, former Florida State Quarterback Christian Ponder, feel about the veteran being here? Well, he actually sees it as a positive.
"He's been successful," Ponder says, "He's been in the NFL for a while, I think the thing I'm gonna soak up from him is preparation, how he handles being an NFL quarterback."
McNabb is looking at the situation in a good light as well.
"We'll continue to help each other," McNabb says, "Push each other, challenge each other and make each other better as we continue on."
But of course, in due time, the Prince always wants the King's throne.
"Obviously he's successful at doing something," Ponder says, "So I just have to figure out what that is and copy it and hopefully use it against him to win that starting job."
But for now McNabb feels he's got enough left in the tank to put up a pretty good fight in that battle, as long as Ponder's the only one he has to compete with.
"At this stage of my career, I'm not old," McNabb says, "I'm following a guy who played for thirty years, and talking about coming back, no I'm just kidding, don't start that."
