KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones beat the Sioux Falls Pheasants, 6-1, on Friday night to finish a four-game sweep of the Birds. Sioux Falls went winless on their 10-game road trip and lost their 11th straight ballgame.

Kansas City used a pair of back-to-back, two-out singles to break a scoreless tie in the fifth inning and grab a 2-0 lead. Justin Snyder drove home Johnny Bowden, and Ray Sadler followed with a base knock to score Keanon Simon. Sadler finished with eight RBI in the series.

Mark Shorey put the Pheasants on the board with a sacrifice fly in the sixth, scoring Gus Milner.

Kansas City batted around in the seventh to score four more runs. Jim Fasano, Peter Barrows and Keanon Simon each had run-scoring hits to push the lead to 6-1. Simon was 3-for-5 with two doubles, a triple and an RBI. He also scored two runs.

Pheasants starter Barry Fowler (5-7) left after yielding two hits to start the seventh. He took the loss and gave up four runs on 10 hits.

Brian Grening (6-3), recently acquired from Gary SouthShore, made his first start since 2009 and earned the win for Kansas City. Steven Stewart pitched the final three innings for Kansas City to earn his first save of the year.

Reggie Abercrombie collected three of the Pheasants’ hits and stole two bases. Abercrombie has 32 thefts on the season, good for second in the league.

The Pheasants begin their final home series of the year with Take My Jersey Night at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday, August 27 at Sioux Falls Stadium. The Pheasants will raffle off special game-worn jerseys to fans, with proceeds to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the game for $5 apiece or 3-for-$10.
