A Sioux Falls man faces drug charges after police found marijuana, thousands of dollars in cash, and a shotgun inside his east Sioux Falls apartment.
Police say they found 3.06 pounds of marijuana, $40,000 cash, marijuana paraphernalia, a shotgun with ammunition and a bulletproof vest inside Apartment 4 at 3309 E. 28th Street Tuesday night. Charles Poppen, who is 27-years-old, was placed under arrest. They say the apartment was not leased to Poppen, but they believe he was staying there.
Poppen is charged with possession of marijuana, 1-10 pounds; possession of marijuana with intent to distribute; distribution of marijuana, one ounce to one pound, possession of drug paraphernalia. Police say the drug bust happened near a daycare and Harvey Dunn Elementary School. Officers are currently trying to determine if it was within the school Drug Free Zone.
Police say the drug bust stems from a previous case investigated by the Drug Enforcement Task Force. We'll bring you more on this story tonight on KDLT News.
