Starting Fresh: Presentation College Football

Let's say you're starting a small business. One of the first things you probably have to do is convince a bank to give you a loan based on very little backstory or credibility. This, in essence, is the world Presentation College Head Football Coach Andy Carr walked into, starting a football program at the division three level, with no tradition or identity, and trying to convince players to loan him their talents.
"We sold a vision," Carr says, "That's really what we did. We were able to sell a vision of where we were headed with this football program, the opprotunity to make history and be a part of something that's brand new and be in on the ground floor."
Carr believes that is something very special, and his players do too.
"It's a great opprotunity here to say that you're in the first year of a football program," Quarterback Cullen O'Brien says, "That's something great."
Plus there are some nice perks to being on the inaugural squad.
"The great thing about being the first team is setting records," Defensive Tackle Corrie Smith-Dennis says, "First game, that's a record right there, and everything after that is a record."
Records aside, the bottom line for a football team is wins, so what are the expectations on that front for the Saints?
"I've been asked that question a lot," Carr says, "And our expectations, well, I always talk about wins being a byproduct of doing things right so we're gonna do a lot of things right as much as we can and just hope that odd-shaped ball bounces our way enough that we can get some W's on the board."
Presentation played their first game last Saturday against Trinity Bible College, falling 39-13, but that hasn't deterred the Saints. They know every team in this college football business started somewhere with nothing.
"Tradition?" Wide Receiver Jalanni James says, "We'll just have to make one I guess."Follow KDLT Sports at @KDLTSports and KDLT Weekend Sports Anchor Kolbe Nelson at @KolbeNelson for opinions, links, and updates on Twitter. And don't forget to check out the KDLT Sports Facebook Page .
