Tribal Members to Share Stories at SDSU Conference

Challenges faced by South Dakota tribes will be the subject of a conference next week at South Dakota State University.
   
Four tribal members will share their experiences during the 23rd annual Consider the Century Conference on Oct. 7. Marcia Zephier, Stacey LaCompte, Edward Valandra J.R. LaPlante will each give 50 minutes speeches
   
Zephier and LaPlante are members of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. Valandra is a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe while LaCompte belongs to the Standing Rock Sioux tribe.
   
Conference coordinator Charles Woodard said that the presentations will help people better understand the
tribal histories, cultures and traditions.
