Humble Hegge: Amber Hegge, USD
December 05, 2011 7:12 PM
Amber Hegge is USD women's basketball.
"She's an outstanding leader," USD Head Women's Basketball Coach Ryun Williams says, "She does it in a very subtle, but determined way. It's always nice when your best player is your hardest worker, she's a very competive young lady, she's a great young lady in the classroom. She's the perfect Coyote basketball player."
The Crofton, Nebraska native has been named first team all-Great West Conference two times in her career and is one of 11 players in school history to eclipse a thousand points in her career. Despite all the accolades, Hegge can't help but be humble.
"Amber is total team," Williams says, "She's a very unselfish young lady. I'm sure she didn't like you interviewing her, she'd rather her teammates be out here getting the credit and that's what makes Amber so special."
It's also what helps her with the high demands of being a leader on her team.
"I guess it's a little bit of pressure," Hegge says, "But I have great teammates and they do a great job as well so it's not too bad."
And when the senior wraps up her career this year, it'll be those teammates she remembers most.
"I've definitely enjoyed it here." Hegge says, "The people have been great, there have been different players, different coaching staffs, but everyone's been amazing and I think that's what I'll remember most about USD."
The Coyotes won't soon forget a total package player like Hegge either.Follow KDLT Sports at @KDLTSports and KDLT Weekend Sports Anchor Kolbe Nelson at @KolbeNelson for opinions, links, and updates on Twitter. And don't forget to check out the KDLT Sports Facebook Page
