Fake money was being used to purchase different items around Sioux Falls over the weekend.
Police say they saw more than $200 in counterfeit bills used including at Sears and Piercing Pagoda in the Empire Mall, a McDonald's Restaurant, and at least one hotel in town. A cab driver also received fake bills.
According to Police, in all of the cases, $20 bills were photocopied but easy to identify as fake. Still, Police want to put out a warning to businesses.
"They might have the same serial number, the color tint might be off bu the main thing is the feel. If you have a regular bill and compare that to a regular piece of paper there's a noticeable difference," said Officer Sam Clemens.
Police say they believe they have a suspect and charges could be coming soon.
