Hospital patients in Sioux Falls were treated to a different type of medicine Wednesday--music.
Members of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra performed at both Sanford Health and Avera McKennan facilities throughout the day. The 12 hours of music kicked off a new program between the symphony and the hospitals called "Music as Medicine".
Creators say music creates a positive impact on healing.
"Art has an impact on how we feel, and how we feel, of course, has a great impact on the healing process," explained Delta David Gier, music director for the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra.
"Music as Medicine" is an ongoing program at both regional health systems. For more information, click here
